They ain't collecting shit from my 2006. :fu:

Since you don't have a cell phone, you don't have to worry about data collection either....oh, wait...nevermind.

That was kind of a dumb list since those data collectors were 100% subscribed to by the owner......I am NOT paying for the NAV on my truck once the intro period is over. (I know the free for now Ford Pass collects data....DGAF since it also has a lot of features I actually like.

All the insurance company shit listed YOU have to sign up for ....they collect data, but if you drive like a granny, they actually save a shit load of money.

I don't do the Allstate one since my rates are find and I don't have to worry about how hard I accelerate or brake.

Tom Tom has nothing to do with OEM.

Give us an example of what exactly scares grumpaw. (Besides the African American box in the mighty nissan)

I still get UConnect alerts on the truck I traded in a year ago. I never subscribed to it, apparently they aren't paying much attention anyway.

My new truck sends me a text message when the gas gauge hits 1/8th tank. Like I can't see the fucking gauge myself....
One feature i kind of liked was seeing the tire pressures on the app.

For whatever reason, the G rated tires don't have the TMPS because of the 110 psi rating.

Bought an aftermarket monitor....hope they don't catch me watching porn while checking my tire pressure!!

Fuck you
My V has the equivalent of a black box ,, One of the friendly service mangers I had back in NYC showed me just how much it records and what it tells Cadillac when you pull in for service.. Even If I pull the Performance Data Recorder Card , Car still records top speeds throttle and brake usage over red line shifts basically if your beating the shit out the car they are gonna have proof of it if you try a warranty claim

I think you mean "TPMS".

Our load range M (22-ply rating) tires don't have TPMS, but the dual CTIS system tells us when they have reached the tire pressures commanded.

That's a handy feature, because our truck was an armored gun truck attached to a special forces unit, so it has runflat inserts in addition to the standard double beadlocks.

OnStar is kinda cool, in that they can tell us where a stolen vehicle is, and then when we're ready to do the stop, they can kill the engine. It would be great if they could play the Benny Hill theme song through the stolen car's audio system when they do it.

The cars by themselves, meh, not that big a deal. The phones we should already be aware of. When you pair the phone with the car via bluetooth, carplay, or android auto, then the car has your phone's info/data as well. Rental cars are a treasure trove of information.

Look up the term Geofencing.

I've said this before, the phones and cars are great for law enforcement investigations, but scary from a private citizen perspective.

The cluster on my Challenger Shaker recorded all kinds of stuff, including top speed.

I loaned it to a lady friend for a weekend. When it came back I checked the dash, Top Speed was at 153, where the limiter came on.

I asked her if she'd been speeding, she said no. Lol!

94 they started the black box practice in vehicles … In 2014 it became mandatory for all vehicles
black box recording back in 94 is not as bad as 24-7 info the new on-star type services
provide...

you can isolate a black box with a little work...

even if you don't pay for these new on-star type services...

they are alive and well and documenting your every move...

One of my favorite scenes from The Sopranos was when Tony was showing off his new Suburban. The guys tell him The Feds can turn on On Star and listen whenever they want. Then you see Tony beating it out of the overhead console with his shoe.
