School Superintendent Fired for Refusing to Perform Wakanda Salute

A group of school superintendents in New York City routinely posed for the “Wakanda salute” at the end of their meetings.

Wakanda is the fictional, technologically advanced African nation from the Marvel comic universe made popular in Black Panther and the Avengers movies.

But one superintendent— a "Black/Afro Latina Hispanic woman"— thought the salute introduced unnecessary racial division, and refused to perform it.

She was “admonished and told that it was inappropriate for her not to participate in the black power /Wakanda/ Black Panther Salute.”

Then, after having been employed by the district for nearly three decades, she was fired. The reason given was that the school district is “moving in a new direction.”

(She later reached a deal with the district to instead be demoted in order to keep her retirement benefits.)

So the woke mob is now victimizing Black women in the name of racial justice. Makes sense.

She must be partially white?

Orr maybe being female and black and hispanic isn't enough, you need to be trans too?

inappropriate to not participate. So, you not only risk being cancelled if you DO participate in things 'they' don't like, now you risk it if you DON'T participate in things they DO like??

No such thing as being independent or a free thinker in woke culture i guess.

You have an insider with the executive superintendents office?

Being fired for 'we're moving in a different direction' just before retirement is a dickhead move. She wasn't fired for gross negligence, insubordination, etc. It was a generic excuse which means they didn't REALLY have a reason to fire her, they just wanted to.

Who the fuck bullies people into imitating comic book movie moves in the first place?

Why not yell "HULK SMASH" after every meeting? It's just as ridiculous as a wakanda salute.

How you know, you got an insider in the super's office? :smile2:

Maybe they fired her to avoid paying out on her pension (that shit happens, no denying it) but why not say that in her suit? Instead she comes up with a load of crap "they fired me because I didn't do a comic hero pose" which flat out sounds dumb as hell.

Headlines like these are meant to grab attention and are light on details. Just like any workplace tiff, you get two different stories depending on the party asked, with neither side in the wrong. There is definitely more to this story.

Read the affidavits in the lawsuits, fellas.

Implicit-bias training is full of people trying to be the bigger victim.
