So they gave us three laps. I was third behind two corporate v cars that I was instructed to follow. Well first lap IMSA safety car took us on a slow lap increasing speeds as we went around the track.... second lap pace increased speeds in speeds through each turnout being very conservative on his lines. Kinda sucked as everything was dialed in on my car for today

I stuck on car two like a fucking magnet, I kept steam rolling him to the point he started moving over .. so I after the hard turn I out accelerated him on the straight. ... well the old v3 isn't supposed to out do the V5 ...I got a talking to on that one.

Apparently the pro Cadillac drivers have corporate passengers from marketing.. and they don't want their new line up being out gunned..

I ran into that with Kawasaki back in the mid-'80's, we had a bunch of pretty good MX racers that raced out of the shop back then, I built some really good engines for them. A few of 80cc kids got the really good engines, all stock, but tuned well, or had the my best porting if they ran in the mod classes. There was a regional qualifier for the Loretta Lynn amateur race at a local track, the track (Casey,IL) had a long straight that really showed the horsepower. One or two of my guys were good enough to stay fairly close the the Kawasaki Team Green riders, and out ran them on the long straight. My guys were giddy as hell about that, Kawasaki not so much. The Team Green truck used to show up at the dealership every now and then, but I never saw them after that.

But best of all got a great one on one meeting with the head V Platform Engineer and Head of the chassie engineering team..

We went over in great detail about a few issues I'm having on top speed runs and look forward to getting a personal hand From Kevin who heads the Chassie design department .. he explained that a proper set up with the front and rear cradle alignment is critical to these cars. There is a special tool set up and procedure that he has written for proper set up that he will forward to me. That was true gold right there

Let me explain what I'm part of.

This is the 20th year of the V platform ..

It is a year long celebration with the GP car kicking it off..

They are highlighting the V cars at each event and basically let us do three to four laps showing the different V cars over the years in a Spirited lap.. at all the race events they are attending this year.

Which means a follow the leader set up with no passing .. Basically we brand embassadors.

In return I get a few perks at their races .. (track passes, team access, and hospitality services, corporate contacts, product access)

If your motor all of a sudden is running the best it ever did.. you have about five passes before it blows. Two car is out it went boom .

Spoilers are inefficient for down force, sure they (might) make a little, but they're higher function is to break the airflow off the back of the car. Dan Gurney broke everyones brain when he put a 90º lip on the back of a car, what we call a Gurney flap now. Spoilers dirty and disrupt the low pressure area in back of a car which people call down force. True down force comes from a wing.

We are held back by the asshole safety car. He gives us the pace... Daytona was way faster... but i also wasnt up front and held back.. this time they they threw me right up front to stop that from happening again.. fastest I got at Sebring was 108 .. slowest was 45 in the two tight turns. Track is a fucking nightmare of bumbs.. race mode nope next time sport mode to soak the bumps better.. I look forward to Virgina and Georgia on the upcoming scheldual as we should be able to get some speed there.
