Looks like everyone had a great time, awesome! I would like to meet up with everyone up that way again. Maybe do a day at laguna next year :)
I'd like to go to Laguna again, certainly very close for me transport wise, 4ish hours from my shop.

I think this winter it might also be good to hit Chuckwalla again (hopefully a couple times?). It's 10 hours I think, it's also your home court so to speak. It's been on my radar for the last couple of months. In some ways easier than Laguna's venue. Price wise CVR is also a lot cheaper if there is a concern there. Laguna is about the most pricy venue on the west coast with CVR maybe the most reasonable? Probably by the time I pay for diesel it would be a wash to do Laguna...

Chuckwalla is certainly not as famous as Laguna Seca, but is absolutely a great facility/track. The open session format makes for lots of time for everyone or if they run groups thats good too.

...

I was talking to Rob from Motofit quite a bit Sunday and he told me that he has next years schedule for The Ridge Motorsports Park (Shelton Wa) and ORP (Grass Valley Or). I should get that this week sometime. He and all of his control riders I spoke to said Supermoto at ORP is hysterically fun. (more on Sumo at Thill west later). Robs a cool guy.

If you haven't rode the Ridge yet it's super fun. I think Rob said he's there the following week after MotoAmerica (don't quote me on that) which would be 4th of July Weekend. The 4th is a Saturday next year. He partners with Carter's at the Track so a lot of those guys might be up there. I'm putting The Ridge high on my list. I could do a partial transport for you (Stu) if you get one of your bikes to Thunderhill or I can figure out a ride for you. If you want, you'll have a ride either way. The down side is that once i get up there I might wanna hang for a bit so not sure on a return date.

MotoAmerica at the Ridge, 6/26 to 6/28 in 2020: The Ridge Motorsports Park Set To Host MotoAmerica In 2020

If anyone wants to go to MotoAmerica be warned, there is one road into that place and its gonna be a clusterfuck (in and out). Hotels in that area are already showing pressure (I looked). A bunch of us stayed at the Little Creek Casino about 15 minutes away, clean, good prices, and it was pretty fun. They still have rooms (and RV hook ups) but I think the hot ticket would be camping at the track and avoiding the traffic. Not sure facitility wise though, you better be prepared to be fully self sufficient as the Ridge last time I was there was pretty under developed in the amenities dept...maybe that has changed ( better for a major event like that) MotoAMerica and the Ridge have both indicated some improvements, but they still look pretty meager. From a spectator standpoint they say they're building a PED bridge. If thats the case you're gonna get some awesome viewing choices. The way the hills are you could park your self on the inside of turn 8 and see a lot of track (5 thru 12?), also between 12 and the front straight would be incredible.

Plus the Pacific North West is spectacular in the Summer. A ride up to Hurricane ridge in the Olympic Mountains would be awesome too....Crescent Lake, hell the entire Olympic peninsula is pretty epic. I might just stay for a month.

Next one is Nov 30 Dec 1. Carters@theTrack - Event Roster . Riding the East track (3 mile). Its the weekend after Thanks giving. I think Shaivo is already making plans to come. Dino is leaning that way, Stites is working on it. Not sure who else. Its the end of the season at TH with Carters. I'll be there.

After that I'm going to start looking at how to get set up at Chuckwalla for the winter. Not really wanting to do 20 hour round trips but if I can get some gear stored there I might spend a bit of time south.

Thunderhill Schedule is out Jan 3. I'll post an update when I get it.

next years wish list in addition to CVR, The Ridge, ORP I think maybe The Utah Motorsports Complex (Previously called Miller).

Shaivo keeps taking about hitting Jennings. Maybe going to Josh's place for mini bike racing. If I can get out there before the heat starts to make Florida unpleasant that might be fun.

TrackXperience sent this 2020 Schedule yesterday:
unnamed.jpg

Chuckwalla as already mentioned, (Not in fucking JUNE though!). Some that I thought were interesting would be:
April 25-26 Streets of Willow ( wanted to ride there).
Sept 12-13 Big Willow
Oct 10-11 Streets of Willow

I don't really remember riding with that group, some are better then others though. I hear from the staff at Thunderhill on who they think run really good trackdays and not so good ones...

It's Wednesday and I'm still wishing I had said fuckit and hopped on an airplane to at least come out to visit with you all.
yeah so when events are in the past....you don't get to go. When they are in the future, you can.

consider this a PSA

Nov 30, Dec1 2019 Thunderhill East

you're certainly welcome to come...hell consider this an invitation.

I've flown into San Fransisco and drove (PIA), Sacramento and drove, and been told by a local that they like to fly into Redding also. I have yet to try that one but Redding is a super small airport, something like 3 buildings one of which is a car rental. Maybe an hour drive with less traffic.

Hotels to stay at in Willows, the Baymont if you don't mind bedbugs, crappy rooms, no elevator, foul odors etc, but on the bright side it's super cheap and they have lots of rooms available. Stites stayed at the Super 8 before said it was good, Dino and his love child Terry Shiavo stayed there last time. I stay at the holiday Inn Express usually, Theres others as well. Heard motel 6 is actually really clean there.

Thank you kind sir!
The timing won't be right at month's end as I'll have my daughter over the holiday plus a few days.

I had the chance to go this past event and didn't consider it long enough.
I was merely lamenting my own shortsightedness.

I'll certainly be up to meeting up with the West coast contingent not matter where I stay.

Thanks again to the invite.

Track Experience is a good company to do track days with. I know a bunch of people there and have done a bunch of their days in the past.

The best days for Chuckwalla are the SoCalTrackDays weekends Calendar — SoCal Track Days They are no sessions days so open track all day long.

Maui - If you want, you can store your trailer out at Chuckwalla. I store mine out there durring the season and a lot of people from out of state do the same. You can have one of the guys tow your trailer out to the pits when you do a day or weekend and then tow it back to their storage area when you are done, that way you don't have to leave your truck there if you don't want to and you can still fly in.

good endorsement on TrackX,

I was wondering about the trailer deal. That sounds really good. I had a friend yesterday offer me a bike to ride that lives there so that might work too (CBR600RR). I'm hoping that the first 2-3 months of '20 I can get there.

well boxes are in Willow a week after I was there... but the chances of me contacting someone there seem slim. Though I was guaranteed a call from the station manager... what a shit hole. :fu: Even if I fly out for T giving... how much you want to bet they will be closed til the following week??

it would have cost more than the parts...
Are you getting close to abandoning the parts due to shipping cost? That would really suck, there has to be a way to get that to Scott’s shop

nah the original cost to get those 2 boxes to Scotts or Thill was north of $600 via UPS ground and being handled by who knows what gorillas or baboons. Even if I high valued it...
If they are safe & sound at Willows... Ill try to make something work there. Made no less than 20 phone calls to the Station since thurs. They dont fukkin answer. Called the 800 customer service and raised hell. If I have to physically pick the boxes up...thats going to be a challenge. 18 fuckin days when it only took 3 days to get to LA. Ill probably get a refund on the cost since the service window was exceeded... which will go right to fixing the other wheels...lol Good news theres a repair place in Sacremento. GP frame & wheel

Will do. It (Laguna) was on my bucket list for a while now. I've taken regular school twice in the 90s when they still had Road America on the schedule. Expensive, but bikes are included. Makes it a lot more convenient.

Our tour director... maui maui had some plans in mine this year. He promised to keep advertising
Yeah the champions Fly & Ride is nice since youre not doing any bike destroying drills and dont have to worry about tech stuff.
What is out west is pretty pimp!! You should try to make an event!

Was also thinking on getting a dedicated track bike, but after (almost) completely destroying two previous ones (and blood thinners) I'm slightly hesitant.

I see alot of 10yr old bikes with some nice suspension parts & setup in the $5-8k range. A few k more... can get you something <5yrs old. Buying a stocker then adding stuff... will always cost more.

I did not have the greatest experience with California Superbike School. I think Stu used to coach for them. Wish he was there when I went.

The level thing is a money making gimmick
If you wanna ride Laguna, ride Laguna.
If you want to improve, I think theres lots of options out there.
yes... that was my point.

I see... Not so easy if you live in midwest. The prepared bike thing makes it attractive for me.
I think Ride Like a Pro rents Zx400s and other bikes. They were at the last event. Last event there was an older R6 for pretty cheap. It wasnt a radial front end bike so I left it alone. If I find one out there... Im buying it.

Why did you not like it?
As mentioned the level thing is kinda a gimmick. Doesn't matter what your level is, you go 1-2-3-4.

It was supposed to be a 2 on 1 coach deal. It turned out to be a 3 on 1 deal.
The bike they gave me broke. They gave me a new one but still.
I got black flagged for following their passing rules, which they said later I actually was following. Missed a session on that.
The "Coach" was brand new. didn't really know his job yet.
He spent all the time with the other 2 guys who were 1st time at the track, apologized to me for not riding with me (wtf?)
At the end of the second day he asked for our impressions. Rider one said he felt like he went from 6 laps a session to 8, rider 2 said the same(they didn't know each other) I said I was doing 12 or 13 laps a sessions when I started and 12 or 13 laps a session when I ended. The rider coach said "sounds about right"

Never went back.

You can go to Thunderhill and rent a ZX400 (www.feellikeapro.com) all day long, if you ride with Carters (or Pacific track time) theres 20+ rider coaches just waiting for some one to ask them for pointers. The coaching is included with the track day. Theres also a bunch of "schools" there with bike rentals. Ken Hill does some too, I've

If you go to the racers edge school in Chuckwalla, theres also a bunch off really good coaches (Someone named Stuman if you're lucky). Not sure on the bike rental but if you catch me on the right day I could probably help you out. Dale Keiffer operates that school. I think they video you, do some class room stuff and then video you again. Stu would have a much better break down on this. Chuckwalla is not a glamorous track but it is super effective. I'm trying to see how to spend a bit of time there this winter.
