Fish out of there a lot. Didn't know the boat, or any of the crew.
I crabbed out of that harbor for Trident in 2010. It's a good bar, deep and straight down the middle approach. There's big estuary lot of run off on an ebb. When the seas get 14' it's best crossed on the flood, or at high slack.
I was just reading the report 10 to 12 foot seas during recovery.. USG Newport Station did a rescue by heli recovery (Lacey) on the Ocean side but DOA once landed at the Hospital... one recovered deceased (Porter) off of Nye beach by the jetty by Newport FD ... the deceased Skipper (Biernacki) was Recovered near the capsized boat near the north side of Yanquina Bay's Jetty North Side where the ship ran aground.
