My 10.1" Android LCD in my Bronco sucks in the daylight.
I can see it, but it's iffy. My return-window expired so I'm stuck with it for a while.

I added a matte anti-glare which helped but not enough.
Is there any supremo, professional kind of screen covering I can apply that will both reduce sunlight glare AND give some contrast pop?
It's bothering me enough that I'd be willing to spend more than the $10 you see for the generic anti glare screen protectors on Amazon.

Btw, I used an iphone tablet's screen protector and cut it down to size with scissors.

This is highly annoying me.
I wish I could easily turn the display to face me but in my Bronco with it's super wide dashboard, it's mounted off to the right and I have a shitty 45 degree angle view of it. ugh

I'm not sure if they make one, but a polarizing filter would help.

Nothing else you can do.
It's the limitations of a shitty LCD screen that will never "pop" in the glare of sunlight.

Either that or only drive at night.

I can buy a bad-assed 1000 nit, optical bonded LCD screen.
But it's like $1k unless you go through China and do some fabrication work on your own.

Cop cars have laptops that are bright enough (I assume).

my computer is barely visible in direct sunlight in my factory tinted window truck.
I would be tinting the winshield as dark as possible.

They use heavy duty laptops that probably have special high brightness screens.
I looked at the standalone LCD offerings online for Police not long ago but it was all old connectivity (VGA) and well over $1k.

This just got posted on the FB.
My locals got a new pup :)

our coppers dont have any different laptop equipment than whats issued to me. They use different programs and cellular wifi. All of their marked cars have tinted windows and the unmarked are even darker.

I have a sheet of polarization film at the junkyard. Use it to repair faded out LCD speedometers.
So, you can buy the stuff easily.

Weird, the laptop in the cop car above is clearly not your standard Best Buy issue.

Window tint?!?
Motherfuckers, my windows are down 100% of the time.
And the back softopper is wide open most of the time!
I'm like my dogs. I like the free air and wind in my face.
That quarter-window deal on this old truck was a GODSEND.
I open it so the wind (and smog) are directed right at my face.

What does my windows being open have to do with me not wanting to see Google maps or Pandora? I do care, you dork! That's why I'm looking for help to make the screen easier to see. :)

I was driving my truck around Monday, it was oppressively hot and humid, I didn't run the air on it because tends to get a little moldy after it sits for weeks. To cure the problem, i'd have to turn the air off 5~10 minutes and run the fan only to dry it out before I get home, so why bother running it unless I'm going to run it allah tyme.

My police all drive new Ford Explorers (except this one I guess) and have new equipment and are always hiring new recruits.
I guess my little city on the edge of Austin has some $. :)
We also have a seriously low crime rate.

I finally went in for a new eye test today.
We're upgrading me from readers to progressive lenses.
So I can see my Android while driving. woot.
That's not why but it's a nice side bonus.

Contacts are still out of the question as apparently they will degrade my distance vision.

any cop shop is always hiring...lol.
one day Ill get some pix of our cop car corral at the Fleet facility. There are some seriously fucted up Exploders. Like all the curtain airbags deployed plus the dash or the whole front just smashed like a flat face cat.
Plus the City is "self insured"... hilarious when people try to sue.
Think starting for a sworn Sheriff is ~$41k plus a take home vehicle. They will be getting a bump to $47k next budget cycle... thats base pay. Some of those fuckers work 40+ hours of OT a week plus holidays. That compiles into a shit load of comp time and some officers max out their leave banks in a year.
