Catheter was removed a few minutes after I mentioned it earlier this morning.

That took the wind from my sails a while but, the coffee was good.

Drains will come out today, physical therapy starts today, walking with a walker, Dr is impressed and says I will likely leave earlier that expected, as long as I cope with today will, this evening.
Hell has a special corner reserved for Mr. Foley.:ak::hunter:

Now comes the hard part- the rehab.

How long before you can get your neck done (again)?

Probably a few months.

No complications that I've been made aware of but, I'm not dancing yet.

I've taken no pain meds either.

I'll get out of here sooner if I don't take them.

It Is kind of freaking the nurses out, that I keep turning them down.

We'll see how the Dr responds today.

I went for my first post surgical follow-up on Tuesday. They were very pleased with my progress. I start PT at the beginning of September.

Just because you can; doesn't mean you should, lesson relearning...

...I've been aching to not have to not sleep on my side, all week.
I've been making good progress in limbering up and moving more strongly/comfortably but, around 1am this morning, I found I could lay flat on my back, so I did, for about two hours...

...which is about an hour and a half longer than I can or do sleep on either side.

It feels like wound all the way back to Tuesday, tenderness wise.

Back to creeping around gingerly and turning every 30 minutes, until the nerves decide they are mad at me any more.

Fucking waaaaaa!

...I would probably never sleep again... :confused2:
An hour here, hour and a half there, is what it's been.

It's like recovering from being kicked in the balls, really hard, back in gradeschool.

Just when you think you're over it, you take a step and there it is again.

Somewhat better now, I think...

So what's going on? It sounded like they got you sorted pain management-wise, then right after maybe not. Are you OK? How are you managing?

It's a fucking roller coaster the past few days...

...good/bad/weird so, I'm just kind of in a holding pattern until shit stabilizes.

Between bad ,tolerable and weird at this moment.

Lots of changes made suddenly shakes things up apparently.

It's fine, just takes time to get to equilibrium.

Hopefully can go home next week, where I have good internet connection.

Hang in there, stay frosty
I'm good, it's the transition of time that has changed, hours like days.

Perspective shifting stuff, priorities changing.

The dude abides.

All who have stopped by to see me are stunned to see me up and moving around...

...like I shouldn't be, for some reason.

It really makes me think I'm not getting the whole story sometimes. 😕

I usually have the same issue. I think it is because doctors are used to catering to the lowest common denominator - fat, out of shape, and frail people. I strongly believe that active recovery is the best way for majority of cases.

PT Now!

A physical therapist explained it to me this way...
Doctors only care that the x-ray picture looks nice. Bones in the right place, rods where they belong, screws straight. Moving can fuk all that up, they want you to lay in bed so the next X-ray pic looks nice. Nice slides for the next conference junket at some expensive resort.

Muscles hold things in place, movement grows muscles. The docs work is done get with the PT to get yourself right.

Free advice, maybe worth it maybe not.:madrussian:

Most still cannot believe I turned down the PCA pump.

I'm sure it would have been great if used for a party but, I just wanted to get the fuck out of there.
I'd still be there now if I had taken it.

I demanded to be allowed to stand up, once they brought me to my room and stand I did.

Been walking around every day, getting up from sitting and position changes every 30 minutes.

I just cannot risk pushing too hard and fucking myself over.

Mostly just sore muscles stuff.
The nerve pain problems tend to keep you right where you are.

All still normal stuff, this early on.
