It would be good for us to have a campground settled before the dry camping at the track sells out. They don't wait long after the schedule becomes final to sell tickets and passes.
Could someone in the area (CZ, Sail...?) actually lay eyes on some spots?
Being next to the track is a big plus for the place already mentioned.
I blasted off an email to the campground. Id text MC but he has a jitterbug phone. Ill make contact with Buellbomb once
I hear back from them. Figure bug out on Wednesday... arrive early Thurs. Setup.
Also Ill be bringing some scooters and scooter parking is free downtown!
Start a poll. Might be easiest to keep track of things...
I was leaning towards #2. I would like suggestions from those who have made the trip before for a suitable hotel. Not 5 star, not 2 star. Something fairly close to the track so I don't have to park my car... I can just Uber over for cheap. Walking would be even better.
Well, tell me if you think this is the wrong plan or not.
I want to wait till the new board is online.
The server we're hosted on also hosts multiple other boards.
So the updates we require on the server prior to the board upgrade, require planning and backup and updates on those other non-related boards.
Which is a major PITA for maverick web host guru Fever500.
Anyhow, so the thought is that once the new board is online, we send out mass emails to all forum members, advertising the party.
Then at that point, when everyone interested is on board, we decide on plans.
Problem is, where do we all stay at.
There is no single place since some will want camping, some will want hotel and some will want "other".
So all we can really do is to plan for the "majority".
And that requires we have all members onboard, which is the mass email result.
So do we wait till the new board is online?
Or do ya'll think we should just start the poll right now?
There are LOT of folks who don't visit often anymore but will be interested in the party.
About 1/3 of the "confirmed" are non-regulars now, due to past transgressions or various other reasons.
Such as being tired of political or racist threads.
Or tired of Dirty Pete's WW (which is apparently MIA now)... RIP DP.
We're all at a turning point here.
Labusas.oRg is about to start a new generation.
A new "thing".
A new "whatever".
If it were going to die, that would have already happened.
We live, motherfuckers.
1) Hotel Reservations. Choices are the hotels in the area. Everyone is welcome to choose whatever hotel they want, but the poll will let others choose the majority hotel. Discounts may apply is a single group books a large number of rooms.
2) Camping spots. Choices are the camp grounds in the area.
The "others" will be a minority and can handle things via PM or otherwise.
unfortunately I’ve been outa town for awhile, should be back sometime in October.
On my return I was going to drive around the track area and do some scouting. If not to late I’ll do it in October. I’ll be looking for damn near anything to give us a “playa”. Land, building, home, whore house, whatever has the potential to work. Distance form 6th street may have to take a back seat to an affordable location.
...or it may just be a shit sandwich and everyman for himself.
Okay, does anyone want to volunteer to put up a new thread/poll for this?
It's a family thing and I don't wanna be the only one doing stuff.
Pretty certain it's going to come down to two camps though.
One for the hotels and one for the campground.
Question is, do ya'll want the hotels close to 6th st (the city with partying) or hotels near the track, further from the city?
Or will someone with mega bucks jump in and rent us a mega house.
Or at least put down the deposit and then suffer through inevitable 1/4 of the confirmed who flake out and don't stay/pay their share.
Just pointing out, there's always been people who don't reside for days at party sites. As long as there's a place the party is happening, some might stop by for an hour, some may stop by for a day, some may live there for 4 days. A hotel with lobby and bar/lounge or a rental house would be ideal.
A good early Meetup could happen at AF1's open house on (probably) evening of Thursday the 11 th.
Just checking back in.... I didn't realize that dates were confirmed already. I'm definitely going... wouldn't miss it for anything. HOTEL for me & Shotlady. Has anyone picked/booked their hotel yet? I think it would be best to stay close to where the evening shenanigans are going to be happening, so it's easy to get back to the hotel afterwards... but I'm open to staying near the track too.
Thank you. It seems like there are many cooks in the kitchen trying to arrange something. I'm unsure where to stay. I was thinking about staying near town, since everyone will want to go out at night for dinner/drinks and will likely end up near the restaurants... and at the end of the night, I don't want to travel far to get to my bed. It seems like there is quite a bit of opinions on this. **confused** I'll brainstorm with the girls.
yes where's the party. thats where I'll show up- I'll drive into blanco to see my folks for the day friday. probably smoke some weed with their neighbors. them mother fuckers are great. they sit there loading bowls taking about sweet baby jesus dropping f bombs.... well any way...where's the main gathering? I'll show.
Thanks for the ping. I've put it into my calendar. But it changes all the time, so I'll have to make the final call much closer to the event date. The fact that I have it in my calendar now, however, is a favorable sign. Could be an entertaining affair to say the least. Perhaps I'll bring a potato cannon, too.
Unfortunately guys, I will not be able to make it. My lieutenant at work, so to speak, got herself knocked up and will be out for 3 months during that time period. We always operate a tight ship and most in the industry would argue we're short staffed, plus we are not filling her role with a temp, so I'll be working double time to make up for her absence. No chance I'll be able to ride or fly to Austin. Sucks too, because I was looking forward to the long ride, let alone meeting many of you.
