Is it much of an improvement over the S20?

Biggest question...

I'm ready to jump ship from Samsung and go to Apple.

Why... I have to S20 Ultra .. in direct Sun the screen will dim in such a way that the screen is extremely hard to see.

Samsung has said this is in the software and was made to save an over heat condition on the phone.

I hate it.. on a sunny day the phone is pure shit.

You have that issue on the S21on a warm day in BRIGHT sun light?

I don't get it Rhino, my S20 Ultra works just fine in bright sunlight.

I mean I do have to turn out of direct sunlight sometimes but, that's more for my own comfort than anything else.

Is there a setting somewhere you may have missed?

I know there are a shitload more settings on mine that I have no idea about but, as long as it takes and makes calls and texts I don't care about them.

On the phone, I can barely see the board here and posting on it is a pain in my ass so I don't usually, when I'm away from the desktop and my 24" monitor.
Really more of a vision loss thing though.

I've got a run of the mill Motorola MotoG Stylus and it's screen is very bright even in very bright sunlight.

I may not be understanding his issue 100%.
But it sounds like his phone is nice and bright in the sun.
Sometimes.
And other times, it's too dimm.

I would guess the dimmness happens when the phone starts to overheat.
The screen brightness gets throttled down.

If it also happens when the phone is cold, then it's got to be a software glitch or a hardware sensor issue.
I'd get it warranteed either way if this is happening.

I tried mine in direct sunlight today and really didn't find an issue with the screen.

I'm thinking it may well be that particular phone of yours Rhino.

I've heard really nice things about the OnePlus 9 Pro.
You might give it a shot before going Apple.
It's available at T-Mobile but should work on every carrier (except maybe Verizon, not sure about them).

I know that back in the day before Samsung locked down their phones, I wrote a script that forced the ultra-bright sunlight mode on my Galaxy S whatever it was. Probably S3.
Root brings options.

This is a picture I took a few months back. Straight out of the camera, all I did was crop it. I have one I took a bit lighter.
