Name up some good movies for me that have to do with sailing or being on a ship.
Adventure or War.

I can also appreciate a good submarine movie but have been in an above-water movie mood all day.
I've seen all the blockbuster movies though.
So maybe something older and less known.

Thank you

That was a very good one.
An amazing movie if you have an intense surround system and very capable subwoofers.
Every speaker in 5.1 (or higher) setup will get a real individual workout.
It may have gotten an award for how good the surround was.

TB mentioned something that I think was a horror movie set on the ocean with a bunch of guys on a boat- I don't quite remember the details, but he referred to several scenes that featured 'goblin seamen'- sounds scary...

The TV movie series? Never heard of it but it looks like a British A&E deal which are usually interesting.
Thanks for the suggestion!

thsts an indy movie called All sub crews r gay.

its the only branch of the navy where 100 guys go undersea and come back as 50 couples.
Whats disturbing is how many times LS wanked himself to some pivotal scenes
You know, when I posted 'Das Boot' (nothing of which posted so far comes close to) I thought there must be tubeblower a joke in there somewhere but I just didn't have the tenacity to craft something...

Silent Service videos about submarine warfare during world war II, most of it is a reenactment, but the stories are cool. Tough old guys, that's for sure:

Hey, I've got nothing against Rock Hudson (TB is just a fan of his lesser-known roles)- he's in the 'Gregory Peck' category, and I like Gregory Peck. Speaking of whom, nobody recommended this winner:

Operation Petty Coat - you can tell I enjoy some of those old movies

I couldn't find any of the above movies on Amazon Prime.
And the movies I found to download are all downloading at like 1k a second.
So I'm watching this one from the youtube link.
Turns out it's a submarine movie.
But it's cool.

Spencer Tracy won best actor in this. Check out little Mickey Rooney @ 1:40!

I hate that movie.
Makes me cry every time I watch it.
Spencer Tracy is quite possibly the best actor that's ever been.

None of your fucking business...
Das Boot is great but you must watch the TV versions which were a 3 part (100 minute episode) or 6 part series. These have way more of the story in them and blow the film cut out of the water (See what I did there?).
The actual cinema release is hacked to fuck and if you have seen the TV series versions then its very annoying to watch as so much is missing. The TV version is the greatest Second World War sea movie of all time and it isn't even a movie...

More of Spencer Tracy's craft.

I could spend a week watching his movies and not get tired of it.

I just learned of the TV version a couple three years ago.
I think I may have downloaded & watched it too.
Or at least made a mental note to do so the next time I watch it.
My recall memory sucks in general, so who knows.
Have seen Das Boot at least four times over the last 25 years.

Okay, so I've got four bean burritos on the fryer.
Got good stuff done around the house today.
Gonna relax now and watch this.
It was a ~3.5GB download from "one of those places".
Cuz I couldn't find it on the Amazon or elsewhere.

Sorry mate, I know you said you weren't into sub movies, but I was hoping to convert you.

I do find those movies quite interesting and intense. The tactics and challenges the crew faced were intense, especially with the older technology available at the time. The guys were good at what they did, both the Germans and Americans.

Unfortunately during my stint in the navy I didn't get to do a sub trip, but would've loved to have experienced it. And we had small diesel class subs, so they were tiny tin cans.

Didn't say I don't like sub movies. I love them.
Have seen several lately and am in the mood for above water movies right now.
Really enjoying Captains.
Not what I was expecting so far.
