Oh my. Tell me more.
Cross Karts...real popular in Europe. Looks like a blast !! They have 125, 250 and 600cc classes.

This Is Your New Project: Crosskart Rally Karts
It's called crosskart, or kartcross, and it's sweeping the nation! OK, it's not actually sweeping ... the sport is bigger in Nordic countries and southern Europe, but now that you know about it, let's get it going here in the United States. Besides the fans standing trackside like a Group B rally stage, it IS a socially distanced event. And even they could stand farther apart.

The crosskart was born in Sweden in the 1980s as something fun, cheap, safe and easy to drive. They're built like sprint cars, and classes are based on displacement. They come in 125cc, 250cc and more than 600cc outputs, mostly using motorcycle engines. Want deets? Here's a typical one from Fast & Speed: chromoly tubular frame, Honda CBR 600 engine, a 660-pound curb weight, a sprint time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph, in the dirt.

The crosskart's cousin is a more powerful Race Of Champions-style vehicle called Formula X Autocross, but it has more weight to lug around, and is a step slower. Both look insane on any surface, and as far as YouTube vortexes go, crosskart and Formula X are big ones.

Now if you need me, I'll be at Harbor Freight buying a cheap welder and shopping for chromoly. - Autoweek, 13May20

I'm a bad (good!) influence on him....he has scored a pair of dual Weber 44's and will be fitting them soon! He bought them from a total VW guy who's into VW drag cars....Gar is suddenly in with a fast crowd...once he takes a ride in a fast street car, he'll be hooked!

Gar we need some pics of your smiling face driving this thing around.

Mini's are fun to drive, but highly depressing to work on.
And you always have to work on them.
I think this one's going away as soon as I get it back together and happy.
I love the idea of a Mini, but every time I go to Marketplace and start looking at them...I get a wake up smack in the face. Half the cars below $10,000 are incapacitated either by a blown engine or something else major. And the other half have enough miles on them to be a ticking time bomb.

Congrats Gregg. That cartcross gives me a chubby. I'm stuck in the WRX for a while. Considering its taken Yimisport over two months to upgrade it. I am trying to find a friendly smog guy at this point. My guy died the first week of lockdown and everyone else is headshy of the calcom.

They started cracking heads on the smog guys a couple years ago. New machines are harder to fool, so many narcs setting up the operators. It's just not worth it for them to do fake smogs. If you do find one be sure to keep it to yourself and treat them like the hot mistress they are!

That isn't going to go cheap...

I got 2k for it if it does.. :)
I wonder if it's a true myers manx or a replica. Its a 1969 so more likely that it is the real deal and more valuable.

This style of dune buggy all get called a myers manx when most are just reproductions

Fuck you
I owned a 69 fast back vw... worst vehicle I ever owned as far as reliability .. glad I made 500 on it when I sold it for 1500 ..

I think one of those crazy ass single seaters would be a billion times more fun on these Georgia roads

Depends what it's titled as, if it's a Volkswagen then it's most likely titled for the floorpan they used, if it's special construction then it has a better chance to be the real deal.

Mine is titled special construction year model 1971.
Mine is definitely not a Myers Manx body.
I don't suppose it would be the hardest thing to put a "new" Myers Manx body on it though.
I need to get the mechanicals where I want them and have some fun first.
Everything else keeps breaking. Got the shitbox Mini back together today after fixing a coolant leak. Changed the oil on it too. Changed oil and fuel filter on Duramax. Changed oil and filter on GMC, did the front brakes on my buddy's Lexus. . . Going to order a fuel line for the Duramax as I saw some small cracks in one of them going from fuel filter to rail. It's not a line that's under pressure, quite the opposite actually as the fuel pump is pulling it through. Truck's been acting strange though and I thought it might be sucking a little air through the crack? I dunno. Check engine lights and strange issues are standard issue for LLY Duramax trucks. One thing that's easy to work on and doesn't ever have mystery issues is my GMC with the 5.3. Other than 200,000+ miles of disappearing coolant, it's pretty much been a rock star.

Yup. Diablo Tuner on my 4.8 helps with some of the issues and corrects my Speedo to within about 5 percent with 35” tires

Just the opposite....there were more copies of Manxes made in the period from '66 to '79, after which the copies all died out.

I'll bet there was over a dozen companies nationwide making Manx style bodies in the late '60s and early '70s. We had one in Ohio. 🙄

But the Original Manx (and others Meyers units) stayed in production pretty much up until now, with a few breaks....

How would you tell if that one I posted a link to is a copy or an original? Do you think it makes a lot of difference in its value?

I can't tell how f it's a true Manx, but I'm sure if it was it's probably worth more to someone looking for an actual Manx, just depends what you are going to do with it I guess.

head gasket. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ SELL IT NOW
BB, it's been losing the exact same amount of coolant for over 200,000 miles.
Between a quart and half gallon per month. Never runs hot (unless I forget to check the coolant level for too long).
I'll run until it blows up before I try to fix it.

GAR-

These guys are local …

www.fiberreinforcedproduct.com
I'll check them out. There's so much disassembly involved in just getting to the point where I can fix the body up it might be easier to just swap out for a nice new body at that point. Only issue is that my "special construction" VIN sticker from the DMV is on the dashboard of my buggy. I don't want to go through a whole new VIN process and then get stuck with a 2023 build sticker which would necessitate smog checks.
