Who doesn't love Joan Jett.
I mean, it's Joan Jett.
Is she still alive?

Never liked her. She is no Chrissie Hynde.

She does look condescending

For pure hotness, Patti Smith was queen of punk.

is overrated
It was a strange time for kids back then.

The beginnings of moral relativism, counter culture, assassinations seemingly non-stop, neighbors, friends and family, losing family in a far away land,

I had a hard time getting a handle on just what life was supposed to be...

...it's no wonder I escaped into the church.

Everyone else was too angry to be following...

...as was I but, I didn't know until some 20 years later.

That song has always had the same effect on me.

If not now, when?

...Joan Jett pretty much started a riot at the Oakdale in Wallingford...she is banned for life...

...it is a totally uptite "facility" with black suited security, metal detectors, and $7.50 beers...

...you are required to sit at all times with eyes forward and hands folded whilst the security "people" patrol the isles...

...that didn't sit well with Jett...

...she berated the crowd for being pussies, shouting out what's the matter with you people ? and told us to fuk the security assholes and get the fuk up and dance...

...we the fuk did...the stage was mobbed...security was totally overwhelmed...

shes a Liberal Dyke but a nice lady as long as politics and religion stay out of the conversation. I was a little disappointed when she showed up at the studio in a black prius though.

She was a good cover. Other than that she'd couldn't hold a candle to Chrissie

My Joan Jett story.

Back in 1983 or 1984, a chick I knew was dating the program director at WBCN in Boston (Carter Allen). She got us into the Rock And Roll Rumble, which was the final night of a local rock band shootout. Every year they do this, there is some band that is the highlight act. This particular year, it's Joan Jett. So I get there, Carter Allen hands me a clip board and a pencil and says "You're my lackey for the night". Fine. As a result, I meet some of the guys from The Cars, Rubber Rodeo, and other Boston bands. Then, I get to meet Joan Jett. She is shitfaced. She is shitfaced, and demanding more booze, or she won't go out and play. Ultimately, it was up to Carter, to get her the required booze (beer, if I correctly recall). She tossed back a few, and went out and played. She was not on her game, but it was a decent show.

Fast forward to a couple years ago. She is playing Arizona Bike Week. I have credentials. She is fucking spot on. A fantastic show.

She fucking nailed it. Great show.
