I've watched the first three episodes so far- excellently done, but also unrelentingly grim (except for the scenes with the coal miners)- does a catastrophic nuclear accident that killed thousands and made a large swath of land uninhabitable for centuries have to be so humorless?

A few fart jokes and a laugh track would have done wonders...

There is another HBO film I saw years ago that was excellent. Fiction of course but well worth the time if you can find it.
