I was lucky enough to have a few 60's cars. Wish I still had them.

67 Mustang GT390 (E78-14)
68 Buick GS400
64 Mercury Comet Caliente 289 v8
64 Ford Falcon (my first car) 170 6 cyl
63 Ford Fairlane 289 v8

The 1964 Pontiac Tempest LeMans with the GTO package was the birth of the American muscle car, and therefore the best American car of the decade.
Not to be too obnoxious, but muscle cars existed before 1964. The GTO was really just a wildly successful marketing campaign.

1962 Impala SS dual quad 409, 4 spd, 410hp


1962 Dodge dual quad 413 Max Wedge 415hp


1962 Ford Lightweight, fiberglass front end with the 405hp 406.


and a 1962 Pontiac Super Duty 421, 410hp (bullshit...it made north of 450hp)


And the factory stuff just got faster every year after 1962, all the way into the early '70s...
