Forum redirects are now fixed.
Xenforo had to patch the issue on their end.
I'm actually disappointed though cuz I liked my blurb better. Untitled.jpg

The "virus" from the previous board software appears to be eradicated. So I turned Tapatalk back on.

For a $5 whore? I will kick in $5 extra to NOT watch! Things are looking up- you're up to a $20 hooker, although I'm pretty sure pimpslayer is gonna watch, no matter what.
I would be the best porn you've ever watched. :fu:

Ugh, fuck.

I just tried to log in with an admin account and Xenforo made me do a "Two-Step Authentication" deal where it required an email be sent to verify me.
And since email isn't working yet....

I disabled that bullshit straight away.
And it wasn't in the settings GUI where I'd have noticed it.
I had to manually edit the config.php (after Googling how to disable the shit).

Had no idea it was even enabled by default.
Wonder how many have gotten tripped up by this.

id like to see links stay as links, rather than the board software changing it to the web page title. otherwise it looks like regular text and no one knows its clickable, it's even the same color as the rest of the text
Okay, I figured out how to make a change for link color and to underline it.

www.google.com

Does this look okay to everyone?
Any alternate suggestions?

The red used in the quotes and some other linked items is very hard to read against the brown/grey. I would darken it up or use another color altogether ...
The red was the Suzuki factory OEM Cadium Red hex color code.
I just changed it to the Suzuki factory OEM Dark Powder Blue hex color code.
Does it look better to you?

Thanks, DC!!!

I adjusted the signature colors to separate them from the message body.
Not 100% committed to the color theme though.
Gun Metal Grey background color + Silver text color.

Also set the quoted text background color to be different from the message body to set it apart.
Suzuki Dark Powder blue was used for that text color.

Adjusted text size and block spacing to be identical to what it was on the old board.
And did a bunch of other small stuff.
Am too hung over to be more productive than sit at a computer all day today.

Added the option for non-technical users to easily hide signatures from view.
Just go to the bottom left corner of any page.
Where it says "labusas.oRg GoBig Theme", just click that and choose the new option "No Signatures Viewable".

All other theme properties will remain the same.
The only difference is you'll no longer see signatures in Bike Talk.

Reduced the max sig pic size to 100 pixels high.
Sorry, LS.

No progress on email yet.

Anyone have any suggestions that haven't been made yet?

Added user flags based on wherever you're posting from in the world.
It may take a day for all flags to populate, or until a user logs in for the first time in a while.

You can "opt out" of having your flag shown to others by clicking on "Privacy" in your user settings. :up:

I'll let the flags ride on unless there is a ton of backlash or the board founders say to axe it.
I think it's kinda cool though. I like seeing how world-wide we are.

I figured out how to search for users who are stuck in "awaiting email confirmation" status and fixed them up.
There were only two others. :up:

If HTTPS is working then SSL is working and that means we can start working on getting email online.

Seems like it's all working fine on two of my many computers.
For long-term safety, it's preferred that you update your bookmarks to the new HTTPS address.
If you're like me, then that means Bike Talk.
And here is the direct link to the secure Bike Talk:

Installed fail2ban on CentOS VM to ensure security.
54 fucking attempts on the login in the last few hours.
F* that.

Fail2ban is a log-parsing application that monitors system logs for symptoms of an automated attack on your Linode. When an attempted compromise is located, using the defined parameters, Fail2ban will add a new rule to iptables to block the IP address of the attacker, either for a set amount of time or permanently.

The width is boxed now and not responsive above a certain width ... why did you do that? It should adapt to the viewport even when viewed on a large screen (I'm on a 27"). The font is way too small and the same size for everything ... can't read easily as it all blends together. Make the post body font larger (14 -16px) and keep the sig font small. That will help guide the eye to the important text .. the post.

It's okay to design for the small screens ... just don't forget the desktops and larger screens.

.p-body-inner{
display: flex;
flex-direction: column;
width: 100%;
max-width: 1430px;
padding: 0 10px;
margin: 0 auto;
padding-top: 10px;
padding-bottom: 20px;

}

SSL - you need to somehow force https on everything. It is failing because images are loading with http ...

Use Chrome and turn on the Console to see the errors.

I typically use a HTTP Rewrite in my .htaccess file:

Code:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !^443$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.labusas.org/$1 [R]
That way nothing slips through because you forgot to change the HTTP to HTTPS.

... Use Chrome and turn on the Console to see the errors.
Or if you prefer IE, press F12 to use Developer Mode. I prefer IE because Chrome gives back too much analytical data to the mothership. I've watched the stream with WireShark.

Thanks, Fever & Dameon!

I guess I went to bed before testing far enough to discover it wasn't 100%.
I enabled cannonical in the forum software.
Added the "s" to the board URL in the forum software (didn't think to do that).
And added Dameon's htaccess edit.
Did all three things at the same time, and so far, so good.

Haven't checked all pages yet though. Let me know if you find anything wrong.

Not sure what you mean by "width is boxed now"?
I increased the width of the user-info section on the left. I don't believe I made any changes to page width since the beginning.
I added "max-width: 1430px;" to the board. Not sure if/what effect it'll have. The rest all seemed to match up?
I attached the file if you want to review it and make any other suggestions. :up:

I do hate the small text size.
But I matched it up identically to what it was on the old board.
Which was too small, IMO.

Anyone here against me increasing text size to make it easier for everyone to read??

That's cool, we can attach text files now.
Hey, now LS & Hagrid & Schiavo can all "text" each other without ever leaving the board!

You need to REMOVE or comment out the max-width setting ... I posted it to show you where it was specified.

Boxed as is the board doesn't fill the width of the screen .. it stops at ... 1430px and the rest is filled with the background.

Fever500 that's crazy. What resolution are you running?
I'm at 1920x1080 (max for my 24" monitor and ~140" projector screen.
Both currently set to 100% zoom.
Both look like the screenshot below.

Set all the text sizes back to original defaults. I for one like it better this way.
Folks, please keep the complaints/suggestions coming.
It's how things get better. :up:
I don't give a crap if you don't like me or the things I like.
So don't worry about bruising any egos. :fu:
