Figures I'd gave to go and see the movie "non stop" just before flying It's actually a pretty good movie.

I was going to say there's probably a muslim involved, but I didn't want to be labeled a profiling, terrorist bigot so I'll recant that thought.

Just read that the two "suspects flying on stolen passports" are said to be "iranian terrorists"

we all know what follows. Yet another jumbo jet will be used as a missile somewhere, maybe Israel?
Then they would have a good reason to start a war with Iran.

Actually ocean's razor would dictate that the plane didn't crash, that it landed.

I think at this point given the situation its far more likely that it crashed, vs it landing somewhere and neither the plane, nor any of the passengers have been found or been able to make any contact with anyone.

And it's sitting on the water out there waiting for a jumper truck...

It was flying at 35,000 ft, and disappeared off the radar. Assuming the radar sweep came around every 60 seconds, a plane descending/falling at 10,000 ft per second would show up 2 or 3 times at the same spot. Unless it came apart in mid air and rained small bits.

I feel that it's gone. kaput.

They have the plane flying the other direction for at least an hour. There is no mayday, no call for help and no debris or any other sign of it crashing. There is no evidence that it crashed, therefore (occam's razor) it didn't crash. Now they just need to find out who stole a $330 million dollar plane, and where they took it to.

All that I've seen and read didn't mention "...flying the other direction for at least an hour.

All I saw was a mention that the radar observers thought it was turning when it vanished. I'll have to go Google some more news stories.

This whole story stinks. There is a carrier group in that area, as well as most likely an AWACS aloft. The United States military knows where that plane went, regardless of transponder.

Strange indeed . Latest reports ( if you wish to believe all of them ) are stating this chain of events . The plane turned after it was one hour out in the ocean . That would be an approximate positioning , when the pilot might think that the plane was out of coastal radar range . It then apparently turned SW and traveled north of and past where it originated . Reports say the plane had two transponders and a communications device that would constantly send real time on board systems information back to the airline headquarters via satellite . All three devices had stand alone power and appear to have been shut off manually , possibly an effort to help hide the aircraft . Authorities themselves don't seem to be telling every thing they know and why is that on a matter concerning 300 lives . The plane may well have gone down in the ocean at the first signs of trouble and all else is no more than speculation gone wild . But If it was stolen ( that's big IF) consider that plane could easily carry a "WMD" to just about anywhere in the world ... That's not an impossible threat with today's terrorists .

copied from a cat on the prepper board:

    • A theory from a co-worker

The captain hijacked his airplane. The f/o may or may not be involved but lets say he is and this has been planned for some time.
The captain apparently is an airplane geek and knows every inch of the 777 and even has a complete 777 SIM at home. At a certain point
In the flight he turns off just about everything electrical including transponders, ADS-B, radios and turns off packs and opens outflow valve.
Passengers are dead very quickly and he continues a slow descent on his westerly heading. The news said the military radar tracked him
For several hundred miles westward then lost contact. I figure he is down to about 500 feet at this point and probably using a handheld GPS.
Safe over nice flat water no terrain just a few ships masts at worst he headed for Somalia where I think the plane snuck in and landed on
A stretch of highway or remote airport. Passengers are all dead and whatever valuable cargo being carried (currency, gold, artwork) is now long gone
With the captain, f/o and any help they had. The aircraft was given over to the local Al Quida for use at a very soon date, stay tuned!

Who knows? He may be right ?

Cant get much more specific about its location than that, considering.

Still, even on fire in one piece, the pilots should still have been alive enough to put out a distress call. And it doesnt explain the transponders all shutting off at once. unless the fire was in the cockpit AND outside (to be observed by the guy on the rig) at the same time.

China's State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense announced the discovery, including images of what it said were "three suspected floating objects and their sizes." The objects aren't small at 13 by 18 meters (43 by 59 feet), 14 by 19 meters and 24 by 22 meters.

The images were captured on March 9 -- which was the day after the plane went missing -- but weren't released until Wednesday.

The Chinese agency gave coordinates of 105.63 east longitude, 6.7 north latitude, which would put it in waters northeast of where it took off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and south of Vietnam.
